If flying to New Zealand wasn’t such a ridiculous way to spend my money on a web conference I would so be there. Luckily a few of the same speakers will be at South By Southwest. Beautifully designed site. Love the layers and typography.

Yahoo Design Pattern Library
Sometimes everyone who is involved in creating a website is not on the same page to what nomenclature should be used for web functionality. I had one client call everything that was a square an “iframe”. Web banners, and carousels were all iframes. This made communication difficult. This is the second more extensive pattern library I have seen and I recommend checking it out. The other is http://ui-patterns.com.

Doug is one of my new colleagues at Viget, and and I really enjoy his Blog. My personal favorite post is called “Live Life as Doug: The Easy Way”. Both Doug and his blog are very witty and full of interesting information. His Flickr gallery with inspiration is fantastic.

My friend Shawn is speaking at Webstock. I’m totally jealous and wish I could go too. New Zealand seems like it’d be such a fun place to visit.

Do you think Andy will let me use our $2500 conference budget to go to Webstock? ;-) The real question is: would my wife let me go a couple weeks before baby #3 arrives? There’s always next year — Viget needs to represent in NZ.

With registration at $1095 and the cheapest air fair I could find on Kayak at $3000.. I think i will definitely choose to use the budget on some conferences closer to home. With sponsors like Microsoft and Google you would think they could bring the cost down just a little bit more. Makes SXSW Look like a bargain!

Easiest way to separate the web designers from the not… My favorite link was the cupcakes! Did you check out the Super Mario cupcakes? So awesome.

@Carly It is the same girl who does the Super Mario Cupcakes. I love all of her stuff… she just put up pics of Robot Cupcakes. Too bad she is in Australia…I would have her make me custom cupcakes for every occasion.

Oh yeah, I meant, had you seen the Super Mario ones that she made. Sorry :)
I could totally make those, but oy! the time involved! I’d probably eat them way faster than I could produce them, ended up with a negative number of cupcakes in the end.
