Questions that people really have asked.
Does your cat really have crossed eyes or did you Photoshop them?
I could not Photoshop a pair of eyes as goofy looking as my cat's. The first time I took Grace to the Vet I asked the doctor if she had any trouble with her vision. The doctor then crossed his eyes, looked at me and said " I dunno, cross yours and see how well you can see".
Did you carry a gun when you worked for the army?
No, I made websites. Though a gun may have come in handy at those uncomfortable Office Space-esque birthday parties I had to attend for people I didn't know. Imagine Lumberg dressed in camo wildly lunging at a cake with a pocket knife letting out a rip roaring Nascar "Yeehaw". Yeah, that would be about right.
Where did you come up with the URL "Bad Ass Ideas"?
Like a hippy trying to convince a congressman to legalize Marijuana I was honestly and hopelessly preaching to some colleagues about how we all could contribute to a more beautiful internet through design. With a big grin on his face my friend Robbie exclaimed "Go on with your Bad Ass Ideas!".
Is your Blog Entry "Lessons learned on the streets of SXSW" about Jason Santa Maria?
No, while I do enjoy reading Jason's blog it is not about him. I have left clues in a few other entries regarding the identity of my "design hero". Part of what I love about this guy is that he believes if you do good work people will notice. I just don't think name dropping would be his style.
How Did you become a Web Designer?
While my background is in print design and Branding, I came to work with two of my former colleagues who were very gracious to put me on the right track to learning the wonders of HTML, CSS, a little bit of flash and a tad of JS. I am going to give Donnie and Eric a suburban white girl "shout out" because they had their work cut out for them. More recently my friends Dan and Keith have been a big help. I also have to credit a lot of websites on my blogroll for giving me the tools to learn. If you don't know it, Google it.
Is Toy really your middle name?
It really is. I am named after my grandmother Emma Toy. She was named after someone who was named after someone who was named after someone who wasn't a stripper.
What Typefaces are used on this Site?
The title is Grotesque MT Extra Condensed and the tag line is Mrs Eaves Petite Caps. The serif typeface for body copy and navigation is Georgia. If you aren't that fortunate, you will see Verdana .
Why can't I view your blog in Internet Explorer?
This blog is my happy place. In my happy place there is no internet explorer. If society refuses to settle for crappy products people will eventually be forced to make better ones. According to my stats about 80% of the people who get turned away from my site found me searching for porn. They would be unsatisfied customers regardless.
