I'm still surprised to discover how few young designers are familiar with the geometry of design you describe in this post, you'd figure it would be part of the core curriculum of any design school right? One of my first assignments was to deconstruct an image of an animal using only geometric shapes but doing it in steps until it was almost unrecognizable.
