I thought this was a magnificent post and will hopefully help new eyes catch on to the exodus from print world. I covered the exact article just last month at http://onwired.com/blog/calling-all-print-designers/ so it is nice to see other people covering the topic. Great read, keep up the good fight!

There are two sides of the coin that is creating for the web: those who "get it" and those who don't. The paths diverge at 180 degrees, and changing is all but impossible once progress has been made. This post is entirely accurate of what must be done, by both transitioning designers and new front end developers, to ensure footing on the right path.

Reading that again, I hope that isn't an overdose of walking metaphor!

Not what I expected - which is *exactly* why I see so much value in these steps. Esp. like how you set transition expectations appropriately as well as gave specific resources & transition steps. Thanks so much for a well thought out article!

I really enjoyed your presentation at Refresh Pittsburgh last week. I'm still trying to figure out if this is a transition I want to make, and the above breakdown is super helpful. Thanks!

<strong>Plus one — Design for CSS Zen Garden.</strong>
It's a good exercise and a great way to work with existing content in Photoshop. If you have the chops, you can take the next step by cutting up the design and converting it to CSS.
